Functional programming to the rescue

Three days of JavaOne was enough to completely sour me on the entire idea of programming. I'm not really sure what did it. But then I made the right decision and went to the BayFP meeting. I left feeling quite rejuvenated, my faith in humanity and love of programming fully restored.

I even won a book for being evidently the only person in the room (other than the speaker) who has been programming in Haskell for more than five years. But someone else seemed more interested, so I gave it away. And in any case, I'm quite sure I'm just the only one who raised my hand.

I encourage everyone to start getting excited about Real-World Haskell. I really don't think you'll be disappointed.

Finally, I really wish for a Chicago Functional Programmers group. Unfortunately, I'd probably have to organize it myself...

Glad to hear that we were able to provide a reliable antidote to Java!
